There is an important notice delivered by Engineering Council through its licensed learning institutions including SOE that all registrants with titles of EngTech, IEng, and CEng have an obligation to undertake CPD and shall attend sufficient CPD hours with minimum 35 hours per annum.
For the sake of annual CPD audit which will be conducted by Ad-hoc sampling, members’ CPD log shall be maintained and updated from time to time. The audit sample will be selected randomly and selected members will receive a letter outlining the audit requirements and the time frame for a response.
The accompanying explanatory notes will also give advice for those who may have difficulty in meeting the deadline or who feel that the audit does not affect them at that time e.g., they are on maternity leave, retired etc. When each request is met, it will be acknowledged and conducted a peer review. The results of the review with constructive comments and advice where necessary, will be sent to the member at the end of the stipulated period.
Audit notification of CDP record is usually sent by email, we strongly advice that please do not ignore the audit notification. If members are failed to achieved/respond to the audit requirement, professional registration may not be extended/renewed thereafter.
Lastly, although some members who are not registered will not be required to submit their CPD, those members are encouraged to have a plan in place to support their future aspirations.
The following pages are about CPD policy and a CDP record template. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch with the secretariat of SOE (Hong Kong Region) firstname.lastname@example.org / 26170311.
Thank you very much for your attention！

All members have an obligation to undertake CPD throughout their chosen career as a means of maintaining current competencies in the ever evolving field of Operations Engineering. Importantly, for Engineering Council Registrants this obligation underpins the value of the professional titles of Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng).
“The Society of Operations Engineers is committed to promoting and supporting the professional development of its members in their obligation to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD)”.
